Feminism has always been one of the more controversial topics, particularly when it comes to a woman writing about her experiences as a feminist. Why so angry?? Inspired by Sylvia Plath? This book is actually about a young man’s discovery that he had feelings for his own mother. His discovery that her death had in fact been the cause of his mother’s depression and emotional instability — this is a story that is a real-life example of what happens when you don’t believe in yourself.
Why so angry?? Inspired by Sylvia Plath? Yes, of course this book is based on her experiences with her father, who was a chronic alcoholic. What’s amazing about the way that her father killed himself is that she doesn’t see it as a reason to blame herself for his death; rather she views it as something which could be blamed on anyone else. She never even bothers to find out what caused her father’s death; and instead focuses on blaming herself for her father’s death — a very common attitude among the women’s movement. That’s why I feel inspired by this book — because this is a woman who is so deeply frustrated with herself, yet somehow believes that she is the only person who could have done anything about her father’s death, and so is completely incapable of doing anything to change that.
Why so angry?? Because of all that anger, a young man in America (I’m talking about you, Britney Spears) finds out that his mother has been cheating on him. He wants to do anything possible to stop this from happening to his father, but his mother’s response to his demands is one of pure hatred — because of her “real” father.
